Former England manager Gareth Southgate has been tipped to take over at Crystal Palace while current boss Oliver Glasner fights to save his job.
Glanser, 50, has led Palace to their joint-worst start to a Premier League season, losing five of their opening eight games and failing to pick up a single win. Monday's abject 1-0 defeat away to Nottingham Forest turned up the heat on the Austrian, who's been in charge of the Eagles since February.
It's been reported that Glasner now has four games to save his job before the November international break. Should Palace continue on their downward spiral, chairman Steve Parish is expected to pull the trigger and seek out a replacement.
The Guardian claim that Southgate could be a target, despite the 54-year-old recently ruling himself out of a return to management within the next 12 months, having resigned as England manager in July after losing the final of Euro 2024. Southgate has been heavily linked with the Manchester United job amid the uncertainty surrounding Erik ten Hag's future at Old Trafford.
Speaking at the European Coaching Association general assembly in Athens earlier this month, Southgate explained when asked about his next job prospects: "Firstly I'm enjoying my life, so there's no rush. I was 11 years committing myself fully to the FA and I've got lots of different experiences.
"But I won't coach in the next year, for sure. I'm certain of that. I need to give myself time to make good decisions. When you come out of a really big role you need to give your body time, you need to give your mind time."
Southgate has history with Palace, having been named club captain at the age of 23 before leading the Eagles to the First Division title in the 1993-94 season. He made 117 appearances for the club, who could also turn to ex- West Ham boss David Moyes or former Chelsea manager Graham Potter if Glasner gets the chop.

A three-year spell in charge of Middlesbrough remains Southgate's only previous managerial role at club level. He kept Boro in the Premier League for two seasons before eventually taking them down in 2009. Southgate had Middlesbrough fourth in the Championship table at the time of his sacking in October of that year.
United were linked with Southgate shortly after Sir Jim Ratcliffe's minority takeover in February. He led England to their second successive European Championship final this summer before losing to Spain 2-1.
